District Goals

The Plattsburgh City School District Board of Education has requested the assistance of the District Wide Educational Committee to identify district goals. District Wide Educational Improvement Committee reviewed benchmarking data, student behavioral data, assessment data and perception data to identify areas of strength and concern. The goals and objectives below outline the short term and long term plans for the district. These goals and objectives should be reviewed annually by District Wide Educational Improvement Committee to ensure that we continue to progress in moving the district forward.

GOAL

The district will score 70/100 points (cumulative average of all buildings) on the Data Driven Instruction Implementation Rubric (Uncommon Schools Research). The Data Driven Implementation tool will be completed annually by District Wide Educational Improvement Committee.

Short Term Objective:

Create and write a Data Analysis Plan. The plan will include protocols and procedures for analyzing assessment data such as:
1. Data inventory
2. Data use vision statement
3. Creation of a school data team and duties (agenda, minutes, action plans)
4. Analysis and inquiry procedures
5. Assessment/analysis timelines
6. Student work analysis protocols

Long Term Objectives:

Implementation of Data Analysis Plan to provide systematic change to Data Driven Instruction.
1. Groups responsible: District Wide Educational Improvement Committee, school data teams and Child Study Teams

Employ the Collaborative Meeting/Planning Process to analyze data and provide intervention.

Design ongoing district professional development to support the implementation of all Data Driven Instruction goals and objectives such as: training in level 1 and 2 analysis, training in collaborative meeting/planning process, consensus training and administrative leadership team training.

GOAL

The district identifies that attending to the whole child is important when educating children. The district will encourage a proactive approach to address the health and wellness of all students within our district.

Short Term Objective:

Continued partnership with JCEO’s Book Bag Program at all elementary buildings.

Continuation of Plattsburgh City School District partnership in the Farm to School Collaboration.

Implementation of free breakfast and lunch program.

Continued scheduling of recess/stress relief in grades Prek-8.

Inclusion of instruction in individual activities, as well as, competitive and noncompetitive team sports to encourage lifelong physical activity.

Creation of a universal district wide system to support students’ social/emotional/behavioral needs. This system should utilize the same protocols and procedures used in the Data Analysis Plan.

Create an action plan to support social/emotional/behavioral needs of students that incorporate consistent teaching of expectations, use of data, identification of in school support services, identification of outside agency support services and referral procedures.

Close Reading Training provided to assist teachers with facilitating deeper student understanding of complex texts

Ensure that elementary instructional staff has a complete and comprehensive understanding of the components of balanced literacy.
