Today is an A Day!

The Homework Club will meet after school today in the library!

The Wednesday STEM Group will meet in Mr. Durham’s room today immediately following the afternoon announcements.

Foosball Club will be today after school 3-3:30 in the gym. Any questions, ask Coach Shaughnessy!

German Club meets after school on Thursday this week in Room B5—we will be continuing our lesson on German music!

MATHCOUNTS is cancelled for this week. The school competition for MATHCOUNTS will take place on January 19th. More information will be announced soon. 

The first SMS Pride Party will be occurring on the 4th week of January 2023!  Pride Parties are rewards for students who meet the expectations target set for the month. Students who have no referrals in the area of Defiance and Disruption from December 21st to January 20th will be invited to attend.   Activities will be Open Swim, Marshmallow Fluff, Board Games, Arts & Crafts, and Face Painting.  Keep up the great work of being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible to be able to attend!

The weather forecast for Friday and Saturday features atypical, concerning cold weather.  As you know, our district features a mix of modes of student commute to school, and a robust slate of co-curricular activities which are scheduled throughout the coming days.

Given the dangerous temperatures which are predicted, school on Friday, February 3rd, 2023 is cancelled, and an emergency closure day will be used.

Typically, when such emergency closures are made, co-curricular activities are similarly-cancelled.  For the most part, this will still be the case, but certain pre-arranged co-curricular activities will be allowed to proceed, so long as additional layers of safety/student protection are applied.  These considerations have been addressed with the Advisors.  So, unless students and parents receive a different communication from the Coach/Advisor, co-curricular activities are also cancelled tomorrow evening (February 3rd), and on Saturday, February 4th.
