Today is an A Day!

Reality Check Club will be meeting today after school in Mrs. Castine’s room. All 6th, 7th and 8th graders are welcome to come and check it out! 

Chess Club meets today after school in F3!

Student reminder! You’ll need to remember your student ID number when you get your lunch. You need to enter your ID number in the touchpad!

There will be a student council meeting on Wednesday in the auditorium!

There is an FSO meeting tonight at 5:15pm in the SMS Library!

Congratulations to our yearbook cover contest winners! They are… front cover – Garrison Rodriguez and back cover – Iasia Mosley Thank you to all who participated.  

The first SMS Pride Party will be occurring on Monday, January 23rd! Pride Parties are rewards for students who meet the expectations target set for the month. Students who have no referrals in the area of Defiance and Disruption from December 21st to January 20th will be invited to attend.   Activities will be Open Swim, Marshmallow Fluff, Board Games, Arts & Crafts, and Face Painting.  Keep up the great work of being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible to be able to attend!

The weather forecast for Friday and Saturday features atypical, concerning cold weather.  As you know, our district features a mix of modes of student commute to school, and a robust slate of co-curricular activities which are scheduled throughout the coming days.

Given the dangerous temperatures which are predicted, school on Friday, February 3rd, 2023 is cancelled, and an emergency closure day will be used.

Typically, when such emergency closures are made, co-curricular activities are similarly-cancelled.  For the most part, this will still be the case, but certain pre-arranged co-curricular activities will be allowed to proceed, so long as additional layers of safety/student protection are applied.  These considerations have been addressed with the Advisors.  So, unless students and parents receive a different communication from the Coach/Advisor, co-curricular activities are also cancelled tomorrow evening (February 3rd), and on Saturday, February 4th.
