MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Today is an A- Day

No Happy Birthday wishes today to students today but we do have Happy Birthday wishes for Ms. Gelwicks!

Lunch menu for today: Nachos, Brown Rice, Fruit & Veggie Bar and Milk

The Library will be closed today.

There will be a Model UN meeting today after school in room 310.  Anyone interested in joining please attend for initial sign-ups and overview.

The CFES club will be meeting on Tuesday at 2:45 in Ms. LaPierre’s room (rm 221). We will working on our placemat project for people at Meadowbrook and people who receive services from our community Meals on Wheels program. Anyone is welcome to join in the fun.

SMS Student Council is hosting their 2nd annual free gift-wrapping drive on Dec. 19 from 4-5:30pm in the Stafford Middle School Cafeteria. Bring up to 10 Holiday items to be wrapped for free. Refreshments and holiday music will be offered in the cafeteria while you wait for your gifts to be wrapped.

Reminder, if you are interested to travel to Italy and Greece this spring. The deadline to enroll is Sunday December 18,2022. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Yadollahpour in room 215.

The PHS character trait for December is Acceptance.

Acceptance is important because it is the gateway to feeling a sense of belonging. To be accepting of others, you must create a space for everyone around you to be the best version of themselves possible. This will instill a culture of belonging and strengthen our communities.

The weather forecast for Friday and Saturday features atypical, concerning cold weather.  As you know, our district features a mix of modes of student commute to school, and a robust slate of co-curricular activities which are scheduled throughout the coming days.

Given the dangerous temperatures which are predicted, school on Friday, February 3rd, 2023 is cancelled, and an emergency closure day will be used.

Typically, when such emergency closures are made, co-curricular activities are similarly-cancelled.  For the most part, this will still be the case, but certain pre-arranged co-curricular activities will be allowed to proceed, so long as additional layers of safety/student protection are applied.  These considerations have been addressed with the Advisors.  So, unless students and parents receive a different communication from the Coach/Advisor, co-curricular activities are also cancelled tomorrow evening (February 3rd), and on Saturday, February 4th.
