Plattsburgh City schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for tomorrow (Tuesday, January 22, 2019). For faculty/staff/students in grades K-8, all morning timelines (ie. start times, when students may arrive on campus, etc.) will simply be delayed 2-hours. AM Pre-K will be canceled at both Bailey and Momot.
Because tomorrow features both Regents’ exams and mid-term exams at PHS, the implication of this delay is somewhat more complicated in that building. The ELA Regents will begin at 10:15a.m.. The midterm exams for AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and AP Environmental will all begin at 10:30a.m.. Afternoon exams are projected to begin at regularly-scheduled times.
Certain other local districts are delaying because of cold and/or snow drifts. Drifts are not a concern in the City of Plattsburgh, but as our district features somewhat more ‘walking’ students than do others, the cold is a concern. Also, as the forecast calls for an appreciable rise in temperatures between 7a.m. and 10a.m. (approx. 10-15 degrees), a delay should help us to avoid the most dangerous period.
Faculty/staff are asked to report at their earliest, safest convenience, but not later than 2-hours after contractual start time. Further, PHS faculty/staff are asked to check with the main office, as proctoring assignments and/or room assignments may change as a result of this delay.
