Dear SMS and PHS Parents:
This message deals with the topic of vaccination for students ages 12+… specifically whether or not it would be useful for our district to host a vaccination clinic. Our circumstance is rather different from that of other districts in our region, as the State vaccination site is located here in Plattsburgh, and has provided a massive number of vaccinations. Even currently, that site apparently has both several-hundred open appointments each day, and will accept ‘walk-ups’ (or, perhaps more accurately, ‘drive-ups’).
As such, much of the informal feedback which I have received indicates that there is limited utility in our district hosting a vaccination point of delivery (POD) clinic, as the State site is very convenient and incredibly efficient. However, we do wish to support the vaccination effort to the maximum practical extent, so I invite your input on the merits of hosting such a vaccination POD in our school(s).
Please feel free to respond directly to my email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) to indicate that you would prefer to see PHS and/or SMS host such a vaccination POD, rather than to utilize the local State site. If your children are already vaccinated, or you have no plans to have them vaccinated, or you are comfortable using the State site in Plattsburgh, no response is needed. If there is sufficient interest, I will make arrangements with the Clinton County Health Department to host a vaccination POD at either/both of our secondary schools.
