Academics

Elementary Schools

Three District elementary schools offer a strong academic program. Arthur P. Momot school offers a K-5 curriculum, while Bailey Avenue serves K-2 and Oak Street contains grades 3-5.

Program includes:

  • Unique, state-funded pre-kindergarten programs at both Momot and Bailey Avenue Schools. These programs offer preschoolers language and vocabulary skills that will better prepare them for later school years.
  • Computer programs that encourage computer literacy and keyboarding skills and enable classrooms to share resources.
  • Intramural sports beginning in grade 4.
  • Full vocal music programs in grade 3-5 and instrumental music programs in grades 4-5.
  • A comprehensive health education program that covers a variety of health and safety concerns taught in an age-appropriate manner.
  • Remediation for those students who need additional help to succeed in school.

Middle School

Stafford Middle School takes over where the elementary schools leave off, continuing to expand curriculum for grades 6-8.

Program includes:

  • Orientation programs to help students make successful transitions from level to level.
  • An interdisciplinary team approach to teaching and learning.
  • Individualized programs for students who show proficiency in certain subjects.
  • A foreign language program in which every student has two years of French or Spanish before ninth grade.
This includes an exchange program with a French-speaking school in Montreal.
  • Intramural, extramural, vocal and instrumental programs.
  • An Olympic-sized pool and swimming program.
  • Extensive computer, home and career studies, art and technology program.
