Overview: The purpose of this project is to provide foreign language students with an opportunity to actively practice communicating in Spanish or French using a student-constructed classroom town. This unit will provide a real-life setting in which students may practice essential vocabulary as required in Checkpoint A of LOE standards. Students will create a village where interactions using learned vocabulary and common cultural practices of the community take place. Students will be challenged to create and solve common problems one might encounter as a tourist or foreign exchange student in a non-English speaking country. The focus will be to reinforce skills needed to attain proficiency and comfort in speaking the foreign language.
