Gold Medal Repeat for Science Olympiad Team

2010 Science Olympiad

The Science Olympiad team, coached by Mrs. Shirley Butler and Mr. Corey Mousseau, competed in the 2010 Regional competition on Feb. 6 at Clarkson University.

For the second year in a row, the PHS team has emerged victorious! Mr. Mousseau said, “The students did an absolutely amazing job, one everyone should be quite proud of. They truly represented Plattsburgh well!”

The regional competition consisted of teams of up to 15 students, hailing from 18 high schools. PHS competed in 17 events, covering many areas of science. Of these events PHS medaled (top three) in 15 of them, taking 3rd in four events, 2nd in three events, and 1st in nine events!

As in golf, the lowest overall team score wins the championship (one point for 1st place, two for 2nd, etc.). PHS finished 1st with a score of 45 points, Chateauguay came in 2nd with 115, and Carthage placed 3rd with 126. Every one of the 15 PHS team members received at least one medal.
