There will be a meeting of the Plattsburgh Board of Education on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Oak Street Elementary School cafeteria. Download the agenda. Public session will start at 7:00 p.m. at which time the Board will review the May 15th school budget vote results and feedback from the exit poll surveys. Plattsburgh High School, located adjacent to the SUNY Plattsburgh campus, serves a diverse student population of 600. Its 60 teachers and 9 teaching assistants give PHS an excellent student : teacher ratio of fewer than 10:1.
PHS is proud of its students' academic achievement - over the past 10 years its graduates have attended 212 different universities across the United States and Canada. PHS sports teams are regularly recognized as Scholar Athlete teams in New York State. 2006-07 100% of all Athletic Teams received NYS Scholar Athlete standing and the 2007-08 Boys Indoor Track Team was recently recognized as NYS Scholar Athlete Team Champions.
Enriched cultural exchanges/travel opportunities have included Spain, Italy, Greece, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Teton Science School – Wyoming, Costa Rica and Quebec City.PHS offers four Foreign Languages: Spanish, French, German and Farsi, and its Project Lead the Way provides a wide range of engineering opportunities including its new Aeronautical Engineering class.
College Advanced Placement courses offered at PHS include: Advanced Algebra/Analysis (pre-Calculus), Calculus, Chemistry, Digital Electronics, Microbiology, Organization of American States and Psychology. Advanced Placement courses offered at PHS include: AP English Literature and Composition, AP Physics B, AP World Global History, AP US History.
